Initially enlisting in the Navy to sidestep the Army draft during the Vietnam War, Michael’s journey into the world of music and photography was inspired by his father, a Navy Photographer in WWII who worked under the renowned Edward Steichen. Michael’s time in the Navy honed his skills as an exceptional lead trumpet player in Navy Bands. Yet, his true passion lay in concert music, with a particular fondness for orchestras and concert bands.
Michael loved photography and music and became a very strong lead trumpet player in Navy Bands. The Navy taught him how to play music very well, but it wasn’t what he wanted to play. Michael liked concert music more—orchestras, concert bands, etc.
Michael graduated from college with a music history degree. That study introduced him to ancient music, where he excelled.
I found some of Michael’s photos on Facebook and wanted to share some with his permission. I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do.
