About Clermont County

Clermont County sits just east of Cincinnati along the Ohio River and covers about 460 square miles, with most of that being land. Home to more than 200,000 residents, it is one of Ohio’s oldest counties, established in 1800. The name “Clermont” comes from the French term for “clear hills” and reflects the county’s rolling landscapes. Today, Clermont is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area, offering both suburban convenience and rural charm.

Things to Do

The county seat is Batavia, while the largest city is Milford, which stretches into neighboring Hamilton County. Clermont also includes parts of Loveland as well as smaller villages such as Bethel, Chilo, Felicity, Moscow, Neville, New Richmond, Owensville, and Williamsburg. The mix of historic villages, suburban neighborhoods, and scenic rural areas gives the county a diverse character.
